Transitioning Summer to Fall
In theory, Fall is an awesome season (kind of like Spring). Not too hot and not to cold, but it never last long enough, does it?! In Michigan, we seem to go from 90 degrees to 20 below zero in a matter of days. Maybe that is why my Fall themed decor is always a bit lacking. I slowing and begrudgingly transition my Summer decor into Fall, in an attempt to enjoy every last drop of Summer that I can get. We get just a couple real Fall days and then *bam* it’s time to start decorating for Christmas (the only holiday I really care about, let’s me honest)!!
So there you have it, my Fall decor in a nutshell! I like to keep things simple and stick to a mainly neutral vibe, year ’round. To create a more Fall feeling home, I simply tried to add in some amber colors and neutral pumpkins. Coziness is especially necessary during the Fall, so keep a pumpkin scented candle, a warm blanket and some twinkly lights near by at all times!
Fall Touches
I don’t really go big with overtly Fall decor. I like to utilize little pops of color and neutral pieces. This year I dug through my basement and closets for little pops of orange/amber and teal. I went outside looking for some colorful leaves I could bring in, but the trees haven’t started changing color yet in Michigan! Instead, I cut a few stems of the Limelight Hydrangeas that are still going strong in my front yard, and a couple leafy branches from our Maple tree. I always like having twinkly lights or little battery operated lights peaking out from being the things on my bookcase. This helps make things feel warm and cozy on cold nights.

Halloween Tree Sneak Peek
I’m decorating a tree for Halloween again this year as part of a fun campaign with Treetopia. Here’s a little sneak peek at the (not so) spooky look! Check back in to see the fun giveaway and hop I’ll be participating in. When Treetopia first asked me to decorate a tree for Halloween a few years ago (see it here), I wasn’t sure about the idea. But, I have to tell you, any excuse to add some twinkly lights to your home when the days are getting colder and darker is always a good idea. I have LOVED having this little tree lighting up the corner of our dining room for the past month. I really need to do this every year for the Fall season.
