On Sunday mornings, after the kids are fed, bathed, combed and changed they are deposited into on room to play together until it’s time to go to church. This morning one of the kids was “bumped”. Another child did something they didn’t like. From the room we could hear unkind words and tones.
When we went in to talk to the kids, we explained (again) that “out of the overflow/abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”. Your mouth is telling us is your heart is not full of love for your siblings. You currently have an angry/selfish heart.
You are like a glass full of something. Only your glass is not clear, so we can’t see or know what is in your glass until you are bumped. When you are bumped, your glass is so full that liquid spills over the top. When that happens we can see that you either have clear water or contaminated (yucky, gross) water. (you can decide how you want to describe that :) The Bible describes Jesus as living water. We can imagine that being like Him would be the clear, clean water.
Let’s pray and ask Jesus to help you be more like him and develop a loving and generous spirit toward your siblings!!
What comes out when you get bumped? ~Julia
