Going along with my other beachy themed posts, I decided to try my hand at a monkey knot! I found some really informative videos, but rather than attempt this complicated looking knot, I wondered if it would be easier to just create the look of it!! Part of me wonders if the actual knot would be easier, but if knots are not your thing, try this!
First, you will need:
- A tennis ball
- Rope
- Glue gun and glue sticks
*I was excited to try out the new Arrow Fastener glue gun they sent me to review! I like that it’s dual temp and is nice and light weight.
I began by wrapping the tennis ball in rope. Glue this very loosely and with little glue until you’re done and can go back and secure it better. I made the mistake of wrapping it too tight which didn’t leave wiggle room for tucking rope later.
Next, wrap the ball in rope in the opposite direction on top of the first layer and lightly secure this with glue.
Lastly (the trickiest step) layer rope over each side, tucking the ends under the second layer. This is why I hope you left some wiggle room. Once the rope is tucked under you can glue everything in place really well!

I LOVE the faux coral solution, what a spark!!! I don’t know if ANYONE has been able to make this “Monkey Knot”.
I’ve seen really cool ideas for it, including putting it in glass lamp, a hack from Pottery Barn, I think. It must be rather difficult to master. Now I have all kinds of coral to make! Thank you for a great answer to a problem.
Today’s The Day To Make It, Whatever It Is GREAT.
Thanks again
