Hey all, this is Bree from bumblebreeblog and I get to hang out at All Thing With Purpose every forth Monday of the month. At bumblebreeblog I share fun crafts, home DIYs, and seasonal goodies. Since father’s day is coming up I knew I had to show you my DIY Beard Oil so you can create some for the special dad in your life.
Bumblebreeblog husband is very proud of his beard, but he complains of beard dandruff and ichyness. So what does any good crafty wife do? Find a solution of course! That is when I created my own DIY beard oil that helps decreate dandruff.
Beard oil is super easy to make and can be filled with lots of wonderful oil to meet specific needs of the person you are creating it for. When creating your recipe make sure to do lots of research on the materials you choose to use.
Materials:
1 oz Pure Apricot
5 drops Tea Tree Oil
5 drops E-Oil 32,000 Iu
3 drops Peppermint Oil
3 drops EUCALYPTUS-ESSENTIAL OIL
1 drop Lavender Oil
For this recipe, I used Apricot Oil as the carrier (base) oil. It’s easily adsorbed, doesn’t look oily, and helps moisturize. There is no scent so it makes a great carrier oil and can be used to create massage oil. It is even useful for cooking and has many heath benefits.
E-oil, also known as Vitamin E oil, is amazing. It helps heal dry skin and helps hair and nails. I added it to the mixture to help with beard irritation, acne, or ingrown hairs. I have also been using it on my knees can have seen a significant improvement.
Tea Tree oil is also very useful, and has even been known to help with acne. Some sites suggest that tea tree oil can help with dandruff and this is where the No Druff magic comes from. Do a quick search for tea tree oil and you can find all the great things you can do with it. There are some concerns though so make sure you read all the information. For example, tea tree oil can be very harmful to cats.
Tea tree oil has a very earthy scent, and not in a good way, so I added some essential oils to counter act that. The peppermint oil works well with the tea tree oil and may help with skin inflammation and stress.
The hubby loves Eucalyptus oil and so I knew I needed to add it to this mixture. It smells great, especially with the other oils. It also helps clears the sinuses and helps with stress.
Finally, I added just one drop of lavender oil to help counter act the “plant” smell of the other oils.
I put the mixture in a glass 1 oz bottle with a dropper and added a fun label (which you can find over at bumblebreeblog). Beard oil makes a great gift for the man in your life, hipster or not. I am thinking of making up some mustache oil for my father-in-law for Father’s Day.
I hope you enjoyed my recipe for DIY beard oil. What type of beard oil would you make for a bearded fellow in your life. Let me know in the comment section. Looking for more unique gift for men?
