I’m excited to share another amazing DIY project from my brother-in-law, Jon! First off, I have to share a couple snap shots of what he had previously done on this wall, which was also great. I love what he had done with these floating shelves, don’t you? Find them here.
Now, onto the shiplap fireplace project!
This total project cost Jon less than $100, partially because he had many of the supplies on hand already. He got this old fireplace surround from someone locally that was practically giving it away. It sat in his garage for several months as he thought up an idea for what to do with it. He began by removing everything else from the wall and then securing the mantel.
Jon framed in the fireplace surround and painted it white. He then used 8″ strips of plywood and trim to create the look of shiplap on either side of the fireplace and above it. He hung shelves and trim to create a custom built-in look, then painted everything white. He used bricks to finish it all off and create a realistic looking fireplace. Paint color: Benjamin Moore “White Dove”

What material did you use for the actual shelves on either side of the fireplace? Could you post a list of all supplies? What a great look!
Yvette
What did y’all use for the brick?
Sarah Lemp
Yvette, this was made using real bricks, but you could easily use faux brick paneling!

Hi! Love this look! Could you provide a supply list? I’d like to know what type of shelving and trim you used.
Thanks!
